Mr & Mrs Walker

Thank you so much for the perfect weekend we had at Balinakill Country House in July 2017. We had the wedding that we’d dreamed of, a lovely intimate ceremony in the white lounge and gourmet meal (provided by Regis Banqueting) in the dining room and then wedding party games and drinks in the bar! All of our guests loved the beautiful venue and the location. We managed a walk on Gigha the day after the wedding and enjoyed a meal at the Boathouse restaurant. Your team were very helpful with making sure we had what we needed (Uta was a star). Thank you also for the bottle of fizz and wedding card.
We would love to return and stay at Balinakill, thanks again for everything.

Just as we’d imagined!

I was meaning to drop you an email tonight. We had the most amazing wedding and a wonderful week at Balinakill. Everyone just loved it and it was great to have more opportunities to explore the area. The wedding was just as we imagined it and everyone was so complimentary about all the staff and about the lovely atmosphere in the house. It really was perfect. Thank you so much for your help in making it happen, and for creating such a lovely, quirky, homely and friendly atmosphere at Balinakill. Thanks, Julie 🙂  , June 2015

Kayleigh & Joe

I wanted to take this opportunity to let you know that the wedding was a fabulous event from start to finish. The house was a fantastic venue and your staff were first class and catered to our every need. Please pass on my gratitude to all staff involved for making Kayleigh and Joe’s wedding a very special and memorable occasion. Even the weather behaved for the ceremony!!! Regards, Paul, July 2016 | PS – I would be more than happy to give a positive reference on the house.

Wonderful Home!

Everything was fantastic and exceeded our expectations. You have a wonderful home and everyone loved it. The only reason we left Sunday was due to work commitments and the fear of rush hour traffic Monday morning.
Dad loves every minute with the family. Please give Uta and John our best wishes they were great. Kindest regards, Barry

Our Wedding in the Woods
When we started our search for our ‘perfect’ wedding venue we felt pretty overwhelmed. It’s a big decision. You have a lot of birthday parties throughout your life, but if you’re lucky, you only ever have one wedding. We discovered Balinakill.
There is no doubt that that she is a grand old gal. Walking around the house you truly feel the history of place. You just know that a lot of fun has been had in this house over the years and MANY a glass has been raised in celebration.
Balinakill is atmospheric, eclectic, comfortable, and it feels like just about everywhere you turn there is a big bashed up comfy sofa for you to fall into with your favourite book or a large single malt. It’s a beautiful and totally unpretentious old house where you instantly feel at home.
To those nervous about taking on a DIY Wedding and moving away from the safety of a package deal in a big shiny hotel. Don’t be brave! The house has everything you need (and more!) and the owners make it their mission to make your day, personal, unique and all about you.
Our wedding in the woods was our ‘perfect place’. Old house, new memories, unforgettable time.
Until we return!

February 2017

Me and my husband got married at Balinakill in May this year. From the moment I saw the website I knew it was the perfect place for us to have the relaxed, informal, fun wedding we really wanted. We fell even more in love with it when we visited and met the owners Ann and Ian (who can be spotted in a couple of our group wedding shots). They are so warm, friendly and relaxed, and Ann was so helpful. I could tell it was genuinely important to her that people enjoy Balinakill. She has done an amazing job of creating a special atmosphere, with the grandeur of some aspects perfectly balanced with fun, quirky touches, and despite the size of the house it has a really cosy, friendly feel. One of our American guests told me he’d described it to his folks back home as Downton Abbey but less formal and friendlier. Another great benefit was the different communal areas (the bar, white room, sun room, and brown room) which meant that our wedding guests could choose whether they wanted to party in the bar (which is amazing), dance in the sun room, or chill out and chat in the other rooms. We were lucky with the weather and managed to get married outside where there are plenty of lovely backdrops for photos. The outside space was also amazing for the kids who were fantastically entertained by the wonderful housekeeper, Uta, and Funky Chicken children’s entertainment (handily based in Clachan and also thoroughly recommended). Uta was an absolute gem, as were all the local people involved in our wedding, including our lovely caterer Bumble, who got rave reviews from our guests for her thoroughly tasty, informal wedding eats.
There isn’t a thing we would have changed and we’re so grateful to Ann, Ian and everyone involved for making our wedding so special. We look forward to returning to Balinakill, hopefully with a family of our own, in the future. There’s so much variety in terms of scenery and activities nearby, and we didn’t have enough time in a week to see and do it all.

Julie & Scott Kinross, May 2015

This is the first opportunity I have had to properly say thank you for everything you did for and leading up to our wedding in early May. Balinakill is truly a spectacular place. Other Country Houses do not match up with it because Balinkaill has a very special sort of character. The character that is not brought about through elegant original features, though it has these in abundance, rather the sort of ‘jene sais quois’ that has been brought to the place by yourselves. The decor, the elegance of the rooms, the warm and friendly feeling that envelopes you as you walk in, from the moment you cross the gates even. The rustic gardens, the fabulously unique bar, I could go on forever I’m sure. We first came to visit Balinakill in February 2013 to scope out the potential as a venue for our wedding the following May. We fell in love instantly with the place, and with yourself and Ian. We thoroughly enjoyed sitting in the sunroom chatting about the possibilities, and if we could have stayed for the gin and tonics that were offered to us come cocktail hour we would have done! Since that end of Winter 2013 right up until the end of Spring 2014 you were a consummate professional to deal with. My sometimes daily emails were responded to quickly and in detail and you were a paramount force in the planning of our wedding. What was most special about Balinakill and your approach to weddings is that never at any point did I feel like I was part of a ‘package wedding’. You were continuously striving to keep our wedding unique and personal to us. The service, help and advice we experienced in the lead-up and planning of the wedding was so very helpful and appreciated. The day itself went ahead perfectly and as planned, though nothing could be done unfortunately about the Argyll wind!
The staff you had with you were a pleasure and thoroughly entertained our guests. All in all, I could not thank you more for what you did for us. Our dream of a unique and personal wedding was thoroughly brought to life by your unwavering enthusiasm, unique charm, attention to detail and effervescent personality.

We will most definitely be back to sample the delights of Balinkaill!
Please feel free to use this as a testimonial on your website.

With Kindest Regards and love,
